morning rumblings...

Stayed up way too late last night. It hurt to get up this morning. It's sad...10 o'clock is now my official bedtime. (I was up till 12 last night) I used to be such a night owl...it wasn't out of the ordinary for me to be up till 2 o'clock or so every night. Suppose it would just be stupid to stay up till 2 now, as I would only get three hours sleep. blah.

Felt slobbish today. I used to get dressed up for work...but have since found that to be a waste of time. I'm wearing my 'powell street festival (c. 1989)' t-shirt. It brings back memories...mostly of dead goldfish. I don't know if they still do this, but they used to have a water balloon game where you have to fish balloons full of water out of a kiddie pool...you could win goldfish...or I think that's how it went...Anyways, we brought home 5 goldfish this one time...I was so excited. I named the special orange & white one "charlie" and sadly, he was the first to be flushed. See, we didn't really know how to look after goldfish. I think they all died of shock...all 5 were dead the next morning. Then there was the time my dad brought back 7...my mom wasn't too impressed. Everyone save my dad went away to Hope for the weekend (or week? I can't remember) & by the time we got back, none of the goldfish remained.

I ate girl guide cookies for breakfast this morning. (Yeah, I was out with meeko (aka girl guide cookie pusher) last night) Drank some tea too.

kitty friend....or foe?

On getting a kitty friend for saku:

Boy thought maybe we could pick out a kitty friend for saku next time I'm down there. Then he thought maybe he would pick one up on Friday before I get there. Then he wondered if I would like to be there to help pick one out. I told the boy that I'm torn...I would like to help pick out a kitty, but if I do help pick one out & it turns out to be an evil bastard kitty who terrorizes both boy & saku...it will surely be blamed on me. At least if he picks out bastard kitty himself, I can't be blamed. Then he tells me it will be my fault regardless...if I pick out an evil bastard kitty (which, according to boy, I surely will...maybe even on purpose...cuz I'm evil) it will be my fault...and true, it will probably never be forgotten. If he picks out an evil bastard kitty, it will also be my fault. "Look what your kitty did!" I never win :( Still have to laugh though, as I know it won't be me who has to put up with evil hellspawn kitty day in & day out.

Autobus it to seattle.

In the last couple months, I think I have learned a lot about doing the whole border-crossing bus trips. For the unknowing/virgin Vancouver to Seattle bus rider:

- go amtrak...it will shave at least half an hour off of your travel time...this is
desirable when it comes to bus rides

- it's good to have a pen with you

- make sure the bus driver gives you a customs declaration form when you get on the bus

- in my opinion you should try to avoid sitting at the rear of the bus...yes, I
know...normally all the cool kids sit at the back, but trust me, you don't want to do
that in this case - 2 reasons - back is where the washroom is (unless you have some
kind of problem, I don't think that's where you want to sit) - there is only one exit
& it's at the very front of the bus...it's nice to be middle or close to the
front...you can get customs out of the way & you can get off without having to wait
for the whole bus to unload

- between 1.25 & 1.5 hours to the border (on amtrak)

- if the bus is fairly full, US customs will probably take an hour

- standard US customs questions: where are you going? what is the purpose of your trip?
how long are you staying? / when are you returning? what is your job up in Canada?

- You can bypass the "how long are you staying" questions by having your return bus
ticket out for the officer to look at. If you don't have a return ticket, I suspect
you may get hassled.

- they scan your bags at US customs.

- once getting back on the bus, do not randomnly switch seats...there are no assigned
seats, but people do not take kindly to this.

- call xian when getting into the 180's (exits)...don't know if this applies to everyone...he may or may not pick you up...but it seems to work for me...so far.

- arrive in seattle approx. 2 hours after clearing customs.

Canada customs:

- no sweat.

Recent:

- mariko & bj sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g...my bestest friend is getting married!

- pussed out on a concert. it was a gloriously pathetic display...sitting on the floor at the showbox...falling asleep standing up...cruddy seat nazis who won't let you sit on the stairs or the railings...

- boy purchased a vacuum...oooh...aaah. Am so proud.

The Old:

- my mom welcomed the boy with a katana.

- went down to Vancouver, WA & met the boy's family

- visited oregon...briefly...I can now officially say that the furthest I've travelled south is portland...whereas before it was seattle. yay, me. (still need to improve in other directions)

- met xian's "black sheep of the family" uncle...reminds me of norman bates...cool.

- having a far away boyfriend is expensive...$61-62 dollars each visit down.

- went to the space needle for the first time in over a decade. even got a smashed penny.

- finally drank so much at a party that I wasn't able to recall the night's events...and was quite drunk the next morning too. I have never suffered such a complete memory loss...all thanks to a frienemy named "jack".

- have had the best ice cream ever...twice now. coldstone. love.

- had to pay close to $200 in taxes...i'm still bitter.

- had a weird get-together with old highschool friends...at a sports bar. i don't really get it.

- Kim & I started working 6:30 to 2:30...without consulting the bosses...they don't mind though. Lately Kim has been working 7:30 to 2:30 or 8:30 to 2:30 or whatever. lazy.

erg.

Gawd I'm bored...not with life...just at this particular moment. Been a long time since I've logged into blogger....about a month. I suppose I've had things to write about...nothing all that interesting...but I seriously lack the motivation. Sucks being such a slacker.
